Vancouver Police Department Information Sessions
Interested applicants for Police Officer or Special Municipal Constable positions are invited to attend an Information Session with our recruiting staff. Come hear a brief overview of policing as a career, and what is involved in the VPD's selection process. Pre-registration for Information Sessions is not necessary.

Mar 9, Apr 13, May 11, Jun 8, Jul 13, Aug 10, Sept 14, Oct 5, Nov 9, Dec 14.Information Sessions are held in the auditorium of the Justice Institute of BC Police Academy at 10:00 a.m. sharp. The JIBC is located at 715 McBride Boulevard in New Westminster.
Feb 23/19 BC-RCMP will be partnering with other Law Enforcement agencies and hosting the sixth annual Law Enforcement Career Fair
The event will take place at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) – New Westminster Campus from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. 715 McBride Boulevard.
A number of representatives from law enforcement agencies from across BC will be on site and available to answer questions regarding their roles and responsibilities in the community, their hiring process, and any other questions future applicants may have.
The event is free and anyone interested in, or knows someone who may be interested in a career in law enforcement, is encouraged to attend the JIBC.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to presentation with identification.

Students will learn how JIBC programs can prepare them for a career in public safety.
Our programs are focused on applied learning and our expert faculty are active in their professional fields. We also provide a range of student support services that contribute to the success of our students.
- Visit the career fair in the gymnasium between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Speak with Program Advisors from various JIBC programs and learn what it takes to be competitive in these careers
- Take a tour of the New Westminster campus
- Watch one of our presentations in the theatre to learn about the many JIBC programs available in law enforcement, paramedicine, emergency management, firefighting, conflict resolution, leadership and more
- Watch live demonstrations from program areas in law enforcement, paramedicine, firefighting and emergency management
Mar 15/ 2019 Bachelor's of Emergency & Security Management Studies at the Justice Institute of BC
Applications are now being accepted for the first on-campus cohort of the Justice Institute of British Columbia's (JIBC) Bachelor of Emergency & Security Management Studies program starting in September 2019.
Enter a Growing Field
"The need for people with the skills required to help communities in an emergency or disaster has only continued to grow since the program was launched online in 2010," said Sarah Wareing, Dean of the School of Public Safety. "
Students in the program will gain a unique mix of specialized applied knowledge and transferable skills that are relevant for a diverse range of rewarding careers both locally and abroad. In addition to learning from experienced professionals who are experts in the field, they will have opportunities to meet potential employers, conduct their own applied research, and develop an online portfolio as they complete their degree.
